My friend gave me a MUGEN called SvC Ultimate Mugen 2007 3rd Battle Edition v2.0. So i came too this page and downloaded some characters and put them in the character folder in their folders, but they dont show up. Any character can be used? I need help plss

first of all thank you for writing us: we are principally an italian site, but we still have an English section :D
About your problem:
1: Since you seem new to mugen, i have to explain something.
- Mugen is an closed source engine to play fighting games on PC.
- Since the original authors of this game stopped the developing, now the duty is left to the community.
- Mugen is not so simple to set up: if you want to change something, you have to use your Notepad application (if you are under Windows OS) to open .def and .cfg files.
- There are several versions of mugen engine, and i think your game is running the low res one.
2: To add characters, you have to do those steps
- download the archive of the character.
- extract it into the CHARS folder of your mugen
- REMEMBER THE NAME of the folder of the char (may not be just "Ryu", but maybe "xCvsRyux", you have to copy the folder name EXACTLY).
- go in your DATA folder and open with NOTEPAD the file SELECT.DEF
- here you will find lot of rows, find the one with [Characters] and look: onder this row there are lot of names. You have to put here your character name.
BUT BEFORE ADDING, READ CAREFOULLY HERE: THE "SELECT screen" of you game, may have some "empty" slots: you have to find those slotch in the select.def file and copy here you character name (remember, must be the same of the folder of the char).
IF you want just to try, save the selec.def file into another folder (backup copy), and modify the starting one simply overwriting the new-character-name-folder to one of you default characters (always in the select.def file)
now you can see your new char in the select screen, WHERE before there was another char.
