Rules.
Part I: for a better keeping of the forum and for a better reciprocal answer of the requests.
Note:
1- Those that you find here in this first part are not rue rules, but we advise and ask you to follow them as well.
2- All that it’s underlined in this part 2 it’s a true rule and must be respected always.
3-the rules talk abut chars, but obviously they apply to all creations, stages and add-ons as well.
Before Requesting a Char:
1) Before requesting a char please click on the “Find” button of the site to make a research for to find any news of said char. (and if avaliable a link were you can find it).
To start the “find” function you can click now HERE
Using this button, you will be able to see if the char has already been requested and if someone has founded it. Or, in the case that there is already a discussion regarding your subject, we ask you to add to it your request (se we will all have more tidy requests).
This is a matter that we ask you to accomplish so that the forum it’s not filled up with discussions that request the same identical char. If you follow this indication you will also have more chances to find the information that you desire in a really fast fashion (lessening also the possibilities that your request may be ignored), and with out obligating who answers to give always the same identical answer.
Obviously if you request was never formulated by no-one then you can open a new topic or add a message on the predisposed threads (like "wanted").
Advise on How to Answer:
1) before offering to pass a char by e-mail, you should post if you acknowledge it a link to the home of the author. (usually indicated in the read-me file of the char).
With this method you allow who is searching for the char to find it in a fast way, with out him being obligated to wait for an answer e-mail. At the same time you are also not obligated to send numerous copies of the same char that it’s still retrievable on the net.
For a better detail of what links are consented consult the rules (the imposed ones) on the link publication.
If the link regards a Beta char, you are asked to add, not only the link, but also a declaration that said char it’s a beta and it’s still in a developing phase. Doing so who receives the beta knows the situation and acknowledges the fact that the char it’s not fully created and it could present a series of problems (usually the Beta’s have in fact the purpose to verify the “in-itinere” errors).
2) If you don’t know any link that’s publishable (see the rules) then you can offer to pass it by e-mail.
Surely you can do so also if someone annotates that the link given before it’s broken.(in said case remove the link on the previous message by editing it).
Moreover it the chare you have it’s a beta (to understand so you can read the read-me file of the char) then it’s Forbidden to send it by Email.
The reason for such a rule it’s that placing in circulation a beta it’s a damage for the author (that may see vanish all the programmed work that’s to come) and for the user (that will probably receive a char that does not answer to his desires).
If you intend to answer anyhow, it’s enough to let the other understand that you own the char in question, but you can’t pass it to him Because it’s a Beta (and therefore far away from his desires.) and add that you are not aware of any links that will let someone download the char (because if you know such link and if it’s admitted my the rules nothing forbidden you to publish it. In this case the desire of the author to make available a beta prevails – see the previous advice).
3) in all cases, if you are aware of it, indicate which Mugen version suits and will allow the char to work. Doing so who receives the answer will know if he will need to convert the char..
if the creation it’s Dosmugen, indicate the version with the Mugen data(e.g.. DosMugen 04.14.2001).
if the version it’s WinMugen / LinuxMugen no further notices – at the moment – are needed.
Part II: True Rules
Note:
1-the nots relative to the first part are not valid here. You will find only true rules.
2-the rules talk abut chars, but obviously they apply to all creations, stages and add-ons as well.
For Whom Answers the Char Requests:
1) as stated early its forbidden to pass via E-mail chars that are Beta releases.
The reason was explained before.
For Who Want To Offer a Char:
1) in all cases (if the char it’s or isn’t his) the char MUST NOT be treated as an "exchange merchandise” (see the part "Rules for Everyone").
2) If not totally original, but a result of an editing, You must make it so that in the archive can be found a copy of ALL the original files, so that the modifications will result as a sort of patch.
Doing so, we will avoid the risk that some author will feel like robbed of it’s work due to the circulation of such changed files. Infact, infact even if long time passes from when the person has receives the char, the person will be able to find both the names, the name of the original author and the one of the editor, and with the information contained he will also be able to restore the char as it was thought of from the original creator.
Rules for Everyone:
1) Mugen it’s NOT a trading card game, and treating Mugen material like exchange merchandise it’s strictly prohibited. It’s a forbidden practice because if used it will Kill Mugen.
Therefore, whether the material it’s yours or not, (and more severely if it’s not yours) discussion of the type "I’ll give you this if you give me that” or “Maybe we could trade” are NEVER tolerated.
Our will it’s to guaranty RECIPROCAL AND DISINTERESTED spirit of collaboration that this website has always had.
Therefore who offers to donate something –not even subliminally- must ask for anything in return.
If we all collaborate in a disinterested manner, only forthe pleasure of being of help also the general clime of the forum and of all out community will be better.
Who will not respect this rule will see it’s topic erased and a formal warning. This it’s infact a behaviour that does not fit a website like ours that wishes to maintain friendship relations (I’d say also familiar) between it’s members.
Part III: Linking Rules
Here you will find a list of all the links that can be placed in a topic.
In different cases the link will be deleted or exchanged.
We accept only links to the home page for 2 principals.
1) it’s what the websites owners desire.
2) a direct link could bring to a file that it’s not the one desired, OR even worst it could lead to a virus, moreover a direct link will demerit the site that hosts the file, and the bandwidth it’s usually limited.
Here Are the Ammited Links:
a) Home-Page of the author (no direct linking to dl files of chars or stages or ANYTHING)
b- The homepage of the site that hosts the char, in case that THE HOSTING HAS BEEN AUTHORIZED, it’s preferred if active to specify the link to the home of the author.
c) The Homepage of sites that you see as interesting to share.
d) It’s possible to link to pages that are not Home-Pages (that arent’ however direct Download) for websites that offer free upload.
These links are legit, but they may hide other types of irregularities.
If then some irregularities will be spotted the message will be removed (or hidden by the users view) with a relative explanation from the moderator.
In the case of missunderstandings, once the message will be recovered it will be recovered from a moderaror and all the posts relative to the intervent of moderation will be deleted.
If there aren’t any misunderstanding or debates after some days the topic will be deleted definitively (not recoverable anymore)
e) When the web sire it’s property of who it’s posting the topic, or if a Mod or an Admin are publication a link, the upper rules are applied more hardly then the usual, It will NOT be for a Owner a necessity to list the homepage.
If then some irregularities will be spotted in the message then it will be removed (or hidden like before) with a relative explanation of the moderator the link may be subdued with the Homepage one (this may vary depending on the discovered problem).
f) The release of the author that it’s called Helios can’t be linked or mentioned for an explicit request of the author and because we really don’t care about mentioning him or his work.
g) for particular cases that don’t wuite fit in those mentioned, we trust the Good Common sense, (moderators included)
Here are the links that will NEVER Admitted:
- Links to Unsecured pages (at an informational level) are NEVER admitted.
This links will be remover in case problems are found, it’s a pretty rare eventuality and it will be explained form the moderator.
Final Note:
for Japanese sites or of other languages written in different character then the common used alphabet of Italian and English speaking countries it will be possible to explain what to click Or to list a part to add to the homepage to get to the Download page, NEVER the direct link.
Part IV: FAQ
Q. I own the chars that was requested but I can’t remember were I got it from and a link… it’s quicker to e-mail it isn’t it?
A. NO it’s faster to pen the char directory and search inside the READ-ME file a link to a website were you can DL the char.
Almost ALWAYS inside the Readme file you will find:
"this char was originally downloaded from:.... (Web site)”
Obviously we aren’t asking for you to actually search the web to find a dl link of the car, it’s enough to check the link from the readme file and place it in the answer.
Q. what the Bloody hell it’s a Read-e?
A. a readme it’s the .txt file of a character, in which it’s explained the way he works and the rules for his release along with thousand of interesting things .
Said file infact explains and describes the author will.
Q.What’s a BETA?
A. ABETA it’s a char that it’s not complete. This char does not respect what the author will produce at the end.
Often the BETA are released to find the approval of the great public and to research for valid Beta Testers.
