For those who don't know: Marvel 2099 was a comic-imprint Marvel Comics did back in the mid-90's, where it was the definate future of the Marvel Universe, in the year 2099. The history tracks of the final-fates of present-day heroes were lost, possibly because of some cataclysm, and mega-corporations have taken control of the world's governments; a very orwellian-dystopic future. However, in 2099, new heroes and other characters are emerging, some future-versions of present ones, others totally original, but each original characters (mostly, at least), using their powers in some way against the megacorp power.

Here is a list of all the major 2099 heroes and hero-groups:

Spider-Man 2099: Brilliant, but very-egotistical, geneticist for the Alchemax megacorp, Miguel O'Hara, gets some spider-DNA put in him in a lab-machine accident, and becomes the next Spider-Man. First he does it just for his own freedom from Alchemax, then learns he needs to also help the anti-corp downtrodden with them, as well. He has Peter Parker's "proportionate strength and agility of a spider," but the rest are different: He has sharp talons on his fingertips and toetips; used for climbing and slash-attacks, has "zoom-in-and-out" vision like a camera; has web-spinnerettes in his forarms, allowing him to shoot webbing from the tops of his hands when his arm-muscles are flexed tight, and has fangs to inject paralyzing-venom into his opponents. His suit is made of UMF, unstable molecular fabric, and thus can't be torn easily (why his talons don't break through, and stay sharp even in them); and he has a web-cape on his back that allows him to fly at times between city buildings, riding their updrafts. He also web-swings, but it's not always necessary.

Ravage 2099: First original 2099 hero, created by Stan Lee and Paul Ryan. Paul-Philip Ravage was an ECO-corp figurehead, very ant-pollution, but is betrayed by his higher-up corp boss, and becomes the rough outlaw "Ravage." After Stan Lee's run on the series, the Punisher 2099 writers took over (7 or so issues in), and had Ravage injest much of Hellrock's (pollution-capitol of the world, consisting of mutates living there from the pollution transforming them) polluted gases to take on a new form to fight for anti-pollution for the world.

Doom 2099: A man wearing a Dr. Doom suit time-jumps into Latveria in 2099, outside Castle Doom, convinced he's the real deal. After trying to confront Latveria 2099's evil-ruler, Tiger Wylde, his oddly-young-and-unburned face is burned (again?) by Wylde, and the people against Wylde work together to give this "Dr. Doom" a chance to fight for them, giving him more advanced, 2099 armor, making him Doom 2099. He eventually takes out Wylde, and rules Latveria "once more." Later, during Warren Ellis' run, he invades CSA (Corporate States of America), and makes himself the new president!

Punisher 2099: NYC rent-a-cop Jake Gallows' family (Mom, brother, and sister-in-law) are brutally murdered by a megacorp head's son, who only has to "pay" for his crime by using a "black card," literally "paying" for it with currency, but since he's rich, it's not that great a price in Gallows' mind. "Archaic brutal punishment" is looked down on by the law of 2099, and when Gallows finds Frank Castle's old war journal in the Public Eye's (rent-a-cop business name) storage facility, he makes it his duty to continue his work, and secretly becomes the next Punisher, who actually dishes out 20th-century-style justice on 2099 criminals, even setting them up in prision-cells under his house, and those with "great offenses" are "put to death" in a nearby incinerator chair.

Hulk 2099: A sleazy Lotusland (Hollywood 2099) producer, John Eisenhart wanting to capitolize on the "Knights of the Banner" cult; a cult who believes in the original Hulk's teachings, and when there's a gamma bomb accident there, with John at dead center, he becomes the Hulk of 2099, the ultimate humanitarian, and loner!

X-Men 2099: Asian mutant Xian Chi Xan leads a team of nomadic-mutants in the mid-west U.S., trying to help out all mutants of 2099, as the newest "X-Men" team. Other group members consist of, "Bloodhawk," an gargoyle, "Skullfire," a man who can absorb machine-radiation and shoot it out of his hands, "Cerebra," who does mind-attacks, "Metalhead," who can turn his skin to any metal he touches, "Krystayln," who can create crystal-shapes from her hands, "La Lunatica," the savage female character, and "Meanstreak," the fast-runner.

Ghost Rider 2099: Transverse City biker/hacker Zero Cochrane finds some incriminating evidence against it's major megacorp-baddie, "D'Monix," but "dies" before he can do anything with it, but as his mind was connected to cyberspace at the time, do to a neural hook-up, his conciousness was actually absorbed into cyberspace, his soul literally being digitalized, and taken to a hidden site in 2099 called "The Ghostworks." The artificial intelligences there figured he was the right guy for their job to help themselves and humanity, so they download him into a bulky, terminator-robot, with advanced motorbike, and an ability to have a head-flame holo in reverence to the first Ghost Riders, and goes out to bring D'Monix down, and somehow do the Ghostworks' bidding as well.

Fantastic Four 2099: Much like Doom 2099, FF 2099 consists of four characters who believe themselves to be the originals, but may just be clones. They emerge from stasis holds in the Negative Zone, and arrive in there base in NYC, but belonging to the megacorp "Stark/Fujikawa." They then set out to discover what they really are, and survive the dangerous future that is 2099.

Other characters without their own series (from 2099 Unlimited):

Galahad 2099: The only real-close "Iron Man 2099." This guy was someone born without an immune system, and metally-controls an advanced robot-suit to fight for and help people, but under Stark-Fujikawa's (another 2099 megacorp) hire and direction. He wants to make suits that can better help other cops and rescuers save people, such as from burning buildings or other places.

Metalscream 2099 (Warren Ellis creation): A 2099 magi-tech user, using a kind of computer-tech that can act like magic.

Duke Stratosphere: A cyberspace-only hero, who looks like Benjamin Franklin, riding a virtual horse and saddle, fighting against evils to the sanctity of cyberspace.

There's more, but that'd be going into too much detail.

My Yahoo Groups list shows links to all the best-known 2099 fan-sites, and I can help you get pics or other info on 2099 material if anyone needs it.

"Marvel 2099" image-search on google.com:
http://images.google.com/images?q=Marvel+2...=1&start=0&sa=N

Ignore anything that says "Marvel Knights 2099" or "2099: World of Tomorrow." Only the original stuff is good! You should be able to find lots of 2099 character pics. Once my scanner is fixed, and my co-worker who has a lot of the 2099 images on his computer is available, we'll be able to provide your 2099-image-needing needs better.

There's also the to-be-best 2099 site there is for all-things 2099:
http://www.2099comics.com

I hope this works for now.
